Sharlet was preparing this barn for the horses when she noticed the bees. This beehive turned out to be 7 feet tall, with more bees than you’d know what to do with. After Smoking the bees a bit I removed the 2 sheets of 4×8′ ply wood. The bee removal went well; the bees were easy to work with although I had to pull about 24 ‘3 inch’ nails out of the plywood
The white plastic piece on top of the beebox is called a queen excluder. This is placed there so that when more boxes are placed on top of it, the queen must stay in the bottom box. Then the top box will only contain honey, so when you remove the honeycomb frames, there no babies or brood in it. I snapped a couple shots of the sunset as I was leaving :).

Comment: Tiffany wanted to remove these bees for some time, when I arrived it seemed safe enough for a live bee removal, surprisingly another neighbor a few houses down, also had a bee hive in the wall that needed to be removed.

I received a call today from Marie today she had bees on her bird house and wanted to do bee removal but didn’t want to kill the bees. She told me I could just take away the bird house with the bees in it. When I arrived I discovered the bees were on the bottom of the birdhouse, and they were new. I explained that she could keep her decorative bird house and that it wouldn’t cause any additional bee swarms to be attracted to it. After removing the bees I treated the bottom of the bird house with odor sealer just to bee safe. I guess I like my job after all. Oh yea, the bees were extremely cooperative and piled right into the box, they will be watched in the bee yard for a bit to make sure there not Africanized.

Suzie was adamant about saving these bees, the bees were at a school but they were not in a problem area. The bee removal was easy; I didn’t take a whole lot of pictures but the tractors looked pretty cool.

While Mike was having his palm trees trimmed; the bees living in the fence became agitated, and stung the dog, himself, and his daughter. They wanted to remove the bees without killing them.

Jim called his pest control company looking for someone to remove bees on his palm tree. The tree trimmers found the hive while trimming the trees. The bee hive was about 20ft up on the branch of this palm tree.

Karen called yesterday; she was looking for a bee company that wouldn’t kill the bees that her gardener found on a bush in her yard. She was real excited about getting some honey from the bee hive, the live removal went well, but the bee hive had very little honey.

Comment: It always feels better to save the bees then kill them! It also makes my job more enjoyable though it takes a little more time. Robin liked the idea of removing bees alive. I didn’t have my smoker but the bees didn’t seem to mind, it’s important when removing hives live to make sure conditions are safe to do so, especially if the bees are aggressive.

Comment: Mrs. Stratford called on Saturday, bees were in the meter box near her complex and she wanted to the bees removed alive. This was a very easy bee removal, and the hive was extremely small. I told Lonnie the beekeeper to watch them as the may be Africanized due to the size of the swarm.
